Wow! I can’t believe you’re actually reading my About page. I promise I won’t refer to myself in the third person, use inspirational quotes from people I don’t know or launch into a story about how I loved to draw as a small child. That alone should score me some points with you.
This portfolio site is just a place to share some of the work I do, network with other creative professionals, self-evaluate and hopefully get better at what I do.
If you’ve made it this far, you must really want to know a few things about this portfolio. Well, here’s seven…
1.       I have more than 20 years’ experience in tourism destination advertising. Okay- So a couple of those years were spent filling brochure racks but everybody starts somewhere.
2.       Question: Am I an illustrator, a photographer, a graphic designer or an art director?
Answer: Yes.
3.       Most of this portfolio is comprised of work that I’ve created as Art Director for the Sevierville, Tennessee Convention & Visitors Bureau / Sevierville, Tennessee Chamber of Commerce. If you’ve ever felt totally blessed to get to go to work each day, I can relate.
4.       This portfolio also includes some freelance assignments, comic book fan art and creator-owned graphic novel projects. I can’t say that I grew up on comic books because I still read them (like almost every day) and I’m pretty sure I’m still growing up.
5.       My work has been published in over 50 different magazine titles (including 2 features in Photoshop User Magazine), too many tourism publications to count and who knows how many different web sites? Really- who knows? I’d like to have that number.
6.       My work has earned more than 70 professional awards in categories such as Commercial Photography, Ad Design, Web Design, and Art Direction including an American Advertising Federation Best of Show Award, 6 District ADDYs from the American Advertising Awards and a Shining Example Award for Visual Excellence from the Southeast Tourism Society. I am a 3-time finalist / 2-time recipient of the Photoshop Guru Award presented by the National Association of Photoshop Professionals and KelbyOne Media.

7.       I love to create stuff and I’m inspired by the creativity of others but there’s one creator that I put above all else- God. You should follow His work. It’s pretty amazing! I can’t think of anything you should know about me that’s more important than my trust in Jesus Christ.
